Dr. Forwood was influenced in his career in natural health care as a result of his belief as a youth in natural methods such as diet, nutrition, exercise, and herbs. He was encouraged by his experience with his great aunt, Dr. Ella Stewart, (the first chiropractor in practice in the State of Delaware), and her treatment compared with the standard medical care he received from his caring and competent family medical doctor. He experienced first hand numerous medical failures, compared to the successes through natural methods of Dr. Stewart as he grew up.
Dr. Forwood, after an injury when 17 Years old, developed frequent severe migraine headaches and was totally disabled for several days each month. He sought treatment from numerous doctors, including prominent neurologists at the University of Pennsylvania. He was discouraged when no one could help. After 5 years of suffering he saw a chiropractor whose treatment immediately reduced the frequency of the headaches. Subsequently Dr. Forwood returned to study Pre-Med at the University of Delaware, and was accepted at Western States Chiropractic College where he graduated with a Doctorate in 1978 ( headache free ) |
